This fee covers the professional service of packaging and transferring everything to your new provider. If you choose not to pay the exit migration fee, the site is taken down and files are not transferred — so we recommend thinking of it as a transition cost, not a hostage fee. We document all of this clearly in our services agreement before you sign anything.
